Old blog, same sentiment
I wrote this almost a year ago. It makes me laugh.
14 Days…
…until I have to finish “Brave New World,” the most horrendous piece of shit I’ve ever read. Yes, Mr. Huxley, your book sucks. It is definitely NOT light summer reading. As a matter of fact, I don’t feel at all jaunty while reading it. If I get to choose what my stoods read next year, they are so not reading this garbage. Dystopia can suck my sac. And I don’t even have one.
Seriously - I can’t get through the book. I actually read “Oedipus Rex”, “Antigone” (twice), and started reading “1984” as diversions. I was able to stomach “Fahrenheit 451”, because it’s about the suppression of free speech and I’m into that sort of thing, but “BNW” is entirely too far-fetched for me. I can’t imagine any 15-year-old enjoying it. Why do we have to teach these things??
